Study and simulation of transmission line protection using overcurrent protection relay

Duo to the importance of electrical transmission lines in transporting electrical energy from generation centers to distribution centers, the transmission process requires high-quality electrical transmission lines, in addition to the importance of protecting them from any internal or external faults. This paper explains how to use overcurrent protection relays to ensure safe, reliable, and smooth operation of the electrical power system. Overcurrent relays are also widely used in electrical power systems to protect electrical transmission lines from faults caused by weather factors or intentional faults. This paper explains and describes the modeling of overcurrent relays to protect transmission lines and simulate faults using Matlab/Simulink.
