Published: 2025-10-18

Abstract

This study aims to diagnose the reality of developing creative thinking skills among students of the Faculty of Media at Azzaytuna University and to identify the requirements necessary to enhance these skills in light of contemporary challenges and rapid changes in the media field. The study was guided by six main questions addressing the requirements for developing creative skills, their current status, the challenges they face, the necessary educational and training content, academic integration mechanisms, and how to measure creativity.

The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach and was applied to a sample of 70 male and female students from various academic levels and specializations within the faculty. The results revealed a strong conviction among students of the importance of creative skills, with requirements for developing skills such as flexibility and innovation in media recording the highest averages. However, the study uncovered a significant gap between perception and application, as the students' self-assessment of their current creative skills notably declined.

The results also highlighted fundamental obstacles, including a lack of infrastructure
and modern technology, a curriculum focus on theory at the expense of practical application, and the inadequacy of current evaluation systems for measuring creativity. Students proposed practical development suggestions focusing on providing equipped studios, integrating modern technologies and artificial intelligence into curricula, establishing a specialized center for creativity, and reforming evaluation systems. The study concluded by emphasizing the necessity of adopting an integrated educational model that combines infrastructure development, curriculum reform, and the enhancement of human competencies to achieve genuine development of media creativity.
