Contemporary grammatical studies that seek to delve into the depths of the works of early scholars and contemplate the grammatical rules they set forth still fall short of fully uncovering the breadth and precision of their systematic linguistic frameworks. This may explain the growing scholarly attention devoted to revisiting these classical texts and the increasing number of studies concerned with them. Notably, some of these works did not address grammatical issues directly but rather referred to them incidentally within discussions of other disciplines inherently linked to grammar—such as rhetoric, for instance. Among these significant works is Al-Tiraz fī Asrār al-Balāgha wa ʿUlūm Ḥaqāʾiq al-Iʿjāz by Imām Yaḥyā ibn Ḥamza al-ʿAlawī, one of the most important treatises exploring the secrets of Qur’anic inimitability from a rhetorical perspective. In addition to its rhetorical depth, the book encompasses numerous grammatical issues intricately connected to the art of eloquence. Due to the limited scholarly engagement with the grammatical dimensions of this work, the present study seeks to examine and elucidate its grammatical content in a detailed manner that clarifies its ambiguities and reveals its underlying implications.
