This study examines the figure of Chilon of Sparta from historical, political, and ethical perspectives, highlighting his role in strengthening the Spartan political system and integrating ethical wisdom into practical governance. The research emphasizes Chilon’s significance as a philosopher-statesman during a formative period of Greek thought, demonstrating his contribution to reinforcing the authority of the Ephors and maintaining balance between the monarchy and the Gerousia, thereby ensuring state stability and limiting potential tyranny. The study also analyzes Chilon’s ethical wisdom and its impact on both individual and collective behavior, illustrating its influence on later Greek thought, particularly in the development of concepts related to just governance and political ethics. Employing a historical-analytical methodology, alongside a descriptive approach to his biography and sayings, and a comparative approach to highlight the uniqueness of Spartan governance relative to other Greek city-states, the research shows that Chilon was not merely a sage of concise sayings, but a fully integrated political and ethical figure whose legacy exemplifies the synergy of law, moral wisdom, and strategic thinking.
