Abstract

This research is a study of some of the meanings of the term “imperative forms” in the Holy Qur’an. It is also concerned with studying the meanings of the term “imperative” and its significance according to linguists and grammarians, in terms of defining it, explaining its reality, its forms, and the meanings in which the imperative forms are used. It also examines the opinions of scholars of language, grammar, and rhetoric regarding the term “imperative” and its significance, by addressing the principles of the imperative from a grammatical and rhetorical perspective, and its position in both of them. From this, this research intended to study the imperative forms in light of what is found in the Holy Qur’an and in the sources and references of the Arabic language. We ask Allah that this may be helpful in understanding the imperative forms.
