Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of pre-school pupil's reading in developing their reading skill of first grade pupils of Sunaa Alhaya international school. The study was conducted on a number of 13 participants of pupils with their parents and their teacher; 10 of them were females and the other were 3 males who were enrolled in the first grade in reading subject at Sunaa Alhaya. Mixed method were used to collect data from pupils; in order to answer the research question, an assessment to the pupils, a form of a questionnaire to the parents of the pupils and an interview with the teacher were used. The results revealed that pre-school reading had a significant improvement in pupils' level in first grade for those who gained pre-school reading. The results also showed that the most difficulty faced by parents and their children during pre-school reading was due to the parents' lack of the language.
